The Intonal festival was launched 2015 as a unique cluster of collaborating entities with Malmö-based cultural centre Inkonst as the main hub. Joining forces with Inkonst was the world famous centre for Swedish electroacoustic music and sound-art, EMS and Inter Arts Center, a platform for artistic research and experimentation connected to the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University. The aim was to create a new Swedish festival for experimental culture. On the way towards the first event in April 2015, the internationally acclaimed festivals CTM and Unsound, also joined the team.
Today Intonal is a trans-disciplinary and transnational project, aiming to support independent experimental culture. Once a year, in April, the project manifests itself into a public festival where contemporary electroacoustic music and sound art meet experimental club culture and digital art. The project aims to stimulate artistic development regionally, nationally and internationally, and in parallel stimulate the integration of different art forms as well as audiences. Music, installations, talks, workshops, residencies, video blend together, creating novel cultural and artistic expressions.
